In traditional Korean attire, the Baeja refers to a type of vest worn over the Hanbok. I have reimagined the Baeja, simplifying its design to make it more practical for everyday wear. The Hanbok Vest pattern is designed with ample ease around the armhole, making it ideal for pairing with traditional Hanbok dresses or other garments with larger sleeves. This feature ensures that you can wear it comfortably over various sleeve styles without restriction. The vest offers the flexibility to be worn either tightly fitted or more loosely wrapped, according to your personal preference. Additionally, the ties of the vest are versatile and can be styled in different ways to change up the look. For further customization, you are encouraged to adjust the length of both the bodice and the ties to create a look that is uniquely yours. This adaptability allows for a range of stylistic expressions, making the Hanbok Vest a versatile and comfortable addition to your wardrobe.

SUGGESTED FABRIC

Cooler Weather:
1. Opt for heavier, insulating materials like wool or a wool blend. These fabrics provide warmth without compromising the Baeja’s traditional aesthetic.
2. Lining: Consider adding a soft, thermal lining for extra warmth. This could be a thin layer of quilted material or a fleece lining.
Warmer Weather:
1. Choose breathable, lightweight fabrics such as linen, fine cotton, or silk blends.
2. Incorporate features like mesh panels or eyelets in the design for better air circulation.

Hanbok Vest

I sewed up the hanbok vest and really liked how it fit. I did make a few modifications though. I put in bust darts and fitted it a bit. its a lovely layering piece.
