The Hanbok is a traditional Korean dress that is typically worn for special occasions like festivals and celebrations. Inspired by the traditional Hanbok, this pattern is for a modern wrap dress that is both easy to make and comfortable to wear.

Our pattern is designed to be made with light to medium weight woven fabrics such as linen, cotton, silk, and other seasonal woven fabrics. We recommend avoiding fabrics that are too stiff or heavy as they they may not feel comfortable and could be too heavy for this dress.

Confident beginner / Intermediate

Pre-wash and dry all your fabrics as this will prevent your garment from shrinking. We recommend you read the instructions thoroughly before sewing.

1. Lightweight Fusible Interfacing : 0.5 yards
2. Cotton Ribbon for Inner Tie - Cut 2 (10" each)

We have kept the written instructions as simple as possible as we have created a sewalong video that takes you through each step of the process.

A Wonderful Pattern

I was delighted to buy Sara’s Hanbok not only because I wanted to thank her for sharing so many great tutorials over the years but also because I imagined that her first design would be great…. And I was right!

Whilst I have not yet sewn the Hanbok, I was keen to get it on presale and have already printed it and watched the several step-by-step videos Sara produced to accompany the pattern. As expected the design is great and the explanations very clear.

Thank you Sara, now off to my sewing machine!

Awww thank you so much for taking time and leaving this sweetest review on my first pattern, Katia! I hope you enjoy making your hanbok dress as much as I do! xx

I am well past the age of fancy dress parties and comic con so this is an absolute delightful dress to fulfil my desire to wear a hanbok without getting strange looks from people. it is a wonderful and beautiful design and I am in the process of planning my fabric choices. thank you Sara for designing such a gem!!

I can't wait to see which fabric you've chosen for your hanbok dress!! Happy Sewing! xx
